Our client is an independent, leading global provider of bespoke private wealth, corporate administration, pensions & employer solutions to individuals, families and institutional clients. On their behalf we looking to hire a director responsible for pensions and employer solutions in Guernsey.
Reporting to the group head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management, governance and effective running of the group’s companies, ensuring alignment with the group strategy, adherence to all relevant legislation. As part of the Guernsey senior management team, the candidate will be a role model for best practice in risk management, corporate governance, process improvement, business development, business management and ensuring efficiency and productivity. The candidate will act as an ambassador for the company and group, in the marketplace to clients, intermediaries, shareholders, employees and other stakeholders. Inspire others and lead by example to promote teamwork, build morale and team spirit and encourage development across the company and group. Implement the company strategy by developing a business plan in line with the group’s overall business strategy which meets group objectives. Regularly attend meetings with members of the senior management team to cascade information and receive feedback. Have a detailed understanding of the group’s vision and align the company’s operational activities accordingly. Actively champion the group’s values by promoting a culture of professionalism, teamwork and leadership. Be decisive and provide direction. Lead the performance development process for the Senior Management team to include appraisals, objective setting and development planning, recognizing good performance and addressing any under-performance. Share knowledge and experience by supporting, advising and acting as a coach and mentor for colleagues. Encourage high achievers and monitor the development and progression of all reporting employees. Set stretching, challenging and yet achievable business goals for self and reporting employees. Championing the group’s core values, raising the company’s profile and reputation and gaining respect in the marketplace. Champion change. Identify and communicate issues that can enhance the quality of life and effectiveness at work.
The successful candidate will have detailed responsibilities in the areas of risk management and corporate governance, oversight, management and administration and business development.
To be suitable for this role, you will have a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably with experience in personal and multi-member pension plan arrangements from a regulated jurisdiction. Be (or about to be) registered as a principal person with the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. Hold relevant professional qualification(s). Have extensive fiduciary knowledge at a senior level, including board experience. Proven leadership skills for developing relationships with colleagues, intermediaries and clients. Excellent communication skills and the ability to impart knowledge to others. Comprehensive technical knowledge in relation to all products and services offered by the Company. Demonstrated knowledge of legal and regulatory framework and relevant applicable laws operating in Guernsey or another well-regulated jurisdictions. Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for own work including the prioritization of workload and the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent critical analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to convey these to the senior management team to improve standard of work and levels of efficiency. Able to obtain an overview of a situation promptly and assess potential problem areas and solutions accordingly. Good understanding of financial markets and finances in general. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
For this senior role an appropriate remuneration package will be available. Applicants will be considered from outside Guernsey but only with knowledge of the international onshore and offshore pensions markets and all regulatory requirements.
