A unique position is being created by our client for a risk and insurance manager in Guernsey. Our client is a private office who are growing their administrative base in Guernsey.
The successful candidate will identify, evaluate and assess potential insurable risks across all the partners' global assets and activities including financial, operational, regulatory and reputational risks. Conduct regular risk assessments and stress tests to evaluate resilience of insurable risks against different market conditions. When a non-insured risk is identified as benefiting from insurance, liaise with relevant parties to identify suitable policies to meet the requirements of those parties. Liaise with relevant parties who hold insurance with external insurers to determine suitability for renewal of insurance with our client including a full policy review. When undertaking the renewable of a policy, liaise with relevant parties to determine the best terms/approach to establishing that policy. Maintain a list of all insurance policies together with key details. Act as a go-between and adviser in the event of a claim under an existing policy. Liaise with the relevant administrator to ensure compliance with relevant rules, regulations and internal policies. To the extent required, provide advice regarding operational or insurance-specific aspects of our client. Implement and administer a risk management tool to allow for easier management, understanding and interpretation of our client’s risk profile. Prepare regular risk management reports and present findings.
To be suitable for this role, you will have a relevant bachelor’s or masters (preferably) degree in finance, economics, risk management or a related field. A minimum of 7-10 of experience in insurance/risk management, ideally in a family office, with exposure to captives and the offshore insurance industry with some exposure to actuarial work.
Strong experience with risk assessment and insurance software and financial modelling tools. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels. High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strategic thinking with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills as part of a small team. Integrity, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
Ideally the role-holder will already be based in Guernsey but approaches are also invited from applicants with a deep knowledge of the onshore and offshore (re) insurance industry.
