Liz Rae, investment adviser at the Share Centre, explained that the last decade has seen eastern nations grow in importance and this trend is set to continue.
"We firmly believe that Asia will continue to prosper over the next three to five years and beyond, not only through their ability to continually deliver goods and services at lower prices than the west, but just as importantly through their continuing advancements of technology," she said.
However, Ms Rae noted that doing business in the region is "not for the faint-hearted", explaining that poor regulation and a lack of corporate governance are among the challenges faced by those looking to enter the market.
